How to uninstall hidden devices, drivers, and services

Working on Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003, all SP levels.

Ever have those drivers or devices that just won’t go away even though you’re sure you’ve uninstalled them? Or, say you replace your old 100Mbps network card with a faster Gbps adapter. But, you can’t re-assign it the same IP address because your system insists there is still an adapter installed with that same IP address and you forgot to remove the driver before removing the old card (which is now in your little brother’s pc)?

To get rid of that unwanted driver, device, or service:
1) Open the “Start” menu and choose “Run…”
2) Type in “cmd” (without the quotes) and click “ok”.
3) At the cmd prompt, type in “set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1″ (without the quotes) and press enter. (Note that nothing seems to happen–this is ok. We are actually setting an environment variable which is going to help us to see hidden devices)
4) On the next cmd prompt line, type in “devmgmt.msc” (without the quotes) and press enter. This will launch the Windows Device Manager Console.
5) In the Device Manager Console, from the “View” menu, select “Show Hidden Devices”.

Now, as you expand the different drivers and devices in device manager you will see not only the items that Windows currently detects as installed on your pc (these are the usual items displayed), but you will also see drivers, devices, and services which have been loaded in the past but were not uninstalled or are not currently started. You can find your offending device, right-click, and choose “uninstall” to remove it from the system completely.

Be careful though; you should note that non-loaded devices, drivers, and services are “grayed” out, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you should delete all of them. Only remove items you know you don’t need. And, be careful that you don’t change too many devices or you might need to re-activate your Windows installation.

Last thing, if you accidentally exit the Device Manager Console you will need to start over again at the cmd prompt. To close the cmd prompt window, type “exit” (without the quotes).

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play aka PSP Phone finally official - Launch event on 13 Feb

Sony Ericsson has finally stopped teasing, winking, and nodding knowingly and has just come clean -- the Xperia Play is most definitely real and it'll be one of the first devices announced at this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. We're treated to a date and time, February 13th at 6PM GMT, a pair of full frontal shots of the Gingerbread-running, gamepad-wearing smartphone, and the full version of that creepy ad we saw for it a couple of days back. Scope it out after the break.

Chelsea VS Sunderland - Will Torres Play Tonight?

Will he play tonight? Chelsea's new £50m signing Fernando Torres is now ready. What's the point keeping this £50m worth player in the bench by the way.

He also has said "it would be "destiny" to score against former club Liverpool when the teams meet on Sunday". He's already dream to score on his former team. Hungry of goal. Drogba-Torres or Anelka-Torres... which one look better I wonder? Sounds gay ftw!!! :p

Go...Go...Chelsea.

PSP 3D Plugin v0.2 Released

You want to play PSP Games in 3D? Then, here's your solution. A great PSP Plugin for Hacked PSP.

Version 0.2 support for more games and improved stability is pspwizard with PSP 3D v0.2. Activate this plugin and you’ll be playing the games mentioned below in 3D — red/cyan anaglyph 3D that is.

Supported Games

* Metal Gear Solid – Portable Ops (new)
* Star Wars Battle Front 2 (new)
* Death Jr. (new)
* GripShift (new)
* Tomb Raider Legends (new – light flickering)
* Ratchet & Clank- Size Matters
* Prince of Persia- Revelations
* Prince of Persia- Rival Swords

Instructions

1. Copy “psp3dv0.2.prx” & “psp3d.cfg” to your plugins folder.
2. Add a new line to game.txt, for example:
ms0:/seplugins/psp3dv0.2.prx 1
3. Restart your PSP (or HEN)
4. Run a supported game
5. Put on your red/cyan anaglyph glasses
6. Press the “Note” button to activate

Also added in v0.2 is support for different colour schemes, which should be set to match the colour of your 3D glasses. Open psp3d.cfg and you’ll notice a new directive called “COLOR_MODE.” The following options are accepted:

* R -> red / blue
